The Preen brand was created by Justing Thornton and Thea Bregazzi when they were just 18 years old and living on the Isle of Man. Obsessed and passionate about designer fashion, they opened a small workshop and boutique on London's Portabello Road in 1996. Their clients included Kate Moss and Chloë Sevigny.
Early collections were not even collections - they were just one off pieces, but by Spring Summer 2001 they debuted a collection of dresses, skirts, jackets and knitwear for London Fashion Week. In 2008, Preen moved their biannual fashion shows to New York and now they are a hotly anticipated part of the New York fashion calendar.
Preen now bring out six new collections per year, with a style that is described as "deconstructed chic" with minimal embellishment. Designs are stocked in 35 countries across the globe and a favourite of the young Hollywood stars.
In the same year, 2008, Preen Line was launched, which gives the designers more of an outlet for rock and roll chic for an achingly cool every day look - and a lower price tag.
Preen clothing has been seen on Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller, Cindy Crawford, Gwyneth Paltrow, Michelle Obama, Nadine Coyle from Girls Aloud, Anne Hathaway and Beyonce.
My favourite stockists for Preen are:
