MaxMara & Sportmax
MaxMara is an Italian luxury high end fashion brand, which specialises in ready to wear ladies' fashions including coats, dresses, shoes, handbags, skirts, belts and gloves. Sportmax is another brand produced by MaxMara, that caters more for the slightly younger customer.
The MaxMara brand was founded by Achille Maramotti in 1951, the Mara coming from the first four letters of his surname, and the Max coming from Count Max, an acquaintance of Maramotti. The company remains family owned and has more than two thousand stores in more than 90 countries of the world.
The MaxMara philosophy is to produce understated, easy to wear clothing in luxury materials, with the emphasi on a superb cut and a high quality fabric. They make wearable clothes for customers who want to be smart, but comfortable. Indeed, Luigi Maramotti, a director of Max Mara has been quoted saying "Our customers are led by fashion, but are never its slaves." MaxMara was one of the first designer fashion companies to mass produce ready-to-wear clothing.

The MaxMara range consists of coats, dresses, jackets and blouses. The grey dress is an extremely flattering style, that will emphasise your curves and creates a sophisticated appearance.
The Sportmax range consists of dresses, knitwear, jackets, tops, skirts and trousers. The jacket pictured (above right) from the Sportmax range again has a very flattering fit, with a loose cuffed sleeve and a flared back. Stylish, but practical, this is an investment piece that you would be able to wear for years to come. It is available in sizes 6 to 12.
