Karen Millen
Karen Millen is a designer, high end High Street chain of shops which delivers designer looks to make you look and feel confident and chic. Pint sized Eva Longoria famously wore the Karen Millen turquoise silk dress from 2008 to the premier of "The Curious Tale of Benjamin Button". Whilst her A list colleagues chose £1000+ gowns, Eva Longoria looked better than all of them in her cute dress that cost under £150. The thing about Karen Millen clothes, is that they are feminine and made using high quality material (for example, silk) with intricate attention to detail (see the Concertina technique dress below right).
The only thing I've noticed with Karen Millen is that the sizing seems to be a little on the small size, so you may need to go a size larger than usual when ordering dresses and other items online. If you are in doubt, order the bigger size.
Karen Millen leather jackets have achieved iconic status. Every season, they bring out a new fantastic design. The black leather jacket pictured left is from the Karen Millen Spring Summer 2009 collection. To view the current range of Karen Millen leather jackets, click here.
The Karen Millen brand was created in the 1980's by Miss Karen Millen herself, and her partner Kevin Stanford. They started with a single branch in Maidstone, Kent, building the brand up to a multi million pound 150 strong chain of shops. The Karen Millen brand was sold in 2004 to the Mosaic Group for £120million.
Sadly, the Mosaic Group have since closed the Karen Millen shop in Maidstone, but there are many other Karen Millen shops throughout the UK and the rest of the world.
I live in the North East of England, and I have shopped in the Karen Millen shop in the Victoria Quarter in Leeds (very nice) and also the Karen Millen designer outlet centre just outside of York on the A64. I have bought items in both shops, my favourite being a metallic leather jacket that I have barely had off my back since buying it. The leather is so soft and supple it just makes my other jackets look cheap and ill-fitting.
The Karen Millen Outlet at York has since closed. However, there is a now an .

For this season's dresses, the easiest place to find them is on the Karen Millen Website. All the photos of dresses and jackets on this page are taken from the Spring Summer 2009 season and are all on sale at Karen Millen online at the time of writing. Some of the dresses are only sold online and not in store.
You can also check out the , which sells off original, brand new Karen Millen designs at half price or less, and is well worth a look if you are wanting a bargain!
