Carven is a French fashion house that was founded in 1945 by the French couturier, Madame Carmen de Tommaso and has been creating dresses, skirts, jackets, trousers and knitwear ever since. The house of Carven offers a democratic vision of the fashion world, creating designs for the independent woman who does not like to be told what to wear.
Even though Carven has been creating dresses for more than fifty years, todays styles are spontaneous and on trend. The Carven brand specialises in accessible luxury giving every woman the opportunity to emulate the style of the chic Parisien.
The creative director at Carven is now Guillaume Henry, who formerly worked for Givenchy.
Lots of celebrities have been seen out and about wearing the Carven brand including singer Rihanna, who was seen wearing the Carven cut out dress, Kim Kardashian, pictured left, who was pictured on a shopping trip wearing this cute ruffled Carven mini dress in black.
Other celebs who wear Carven include: Demi Moore (pictured top right), Gwyneth Paltrow, Christina Aguilera, Leighton Meester, Katie Holmes (pictured right) and Alexa Chung.
The current Carven collection contains an array of sophisticated dresses with structured looks, clean lines and use of the latest design techniques including draping and heavy ruching.
The design pictured on the left, from the AW2011 season, is the Carven Stretch Wool Twist Dress. It has a drape designed to flatter, and employs twist and pleat detail for a figure flattering effect. It also works well as a transitional dress, taking you from day wear to evening wear in the blink of an eye.
The design pictured on the right, from the SS2012 season, is a bright and beautiful knot front dress with a flattering cut and perfectly on trend to brighten up your summer wardrobe. This dress is also available in coral pink.
my-wardrobe.com have just introduced the Carven brand to their website. The Spring Summer 2012 Carven collection perfectly captures the spirit of the season with an array of uplifting colourways and vibrant global inspired prints. Classic chic tailoring is contrasted with colourful prints inspired by native embroideries.
Debuting on the site for SS12, the my-wardrobe edit includes crisp cotton shirts and shorts in vibrant zig zag print, neon tribal jacquard tailored box jackets and dip dye bright jersey t-shirts. For the evening, there are silk and luxe jersey dresses with signature knot detail and tribal jacquard one shoulder dresses. The tribal print theme carries through on to chic platform heels and oversized clutch bags.
