Antik Batik is a French designer label, founded in 1992 by Gabriella Cortèse and the Christophe Sauvati. Gabriella and Christophe had travelled extensively around the world together, and had been inspired by the craftsmanship and colours that they had seen together. Starting initially with dresses, tops and sarongs, the brand became successful quickly, and further items such as belts, bags, sandals and girl's clothing were added to the range.
Antik Batik designs have heavy ethnic influences, and designs are frequently embellished with a sequin, a strip of lace or a splash of embroidery or appliqué. Vibrant colours are sometimes made use of to bring the creations to life, and the materials most frequently used are natural fabrics including top quality silk and cotton.
The children's clothing range was started in 2001.
